Students graduating from Lynden Christian are required to do a senior presentation which recaps their high school experiences and faith journey as a student. They are given an opportunity to give a public presentation one evening at the end of the year. Katie did an amazing job! Unfortunately, neither Sam or Holly or grandparents could be there, but she still had a full room of loved ones. Thank you for everyone who came and supported my girl! The seniors always choose some sort of visual for their speech; Katie chose to compare her high school career to hiking.
Horrible picture - I had to take it from John's video he took. I don't know why I didn't think to take any actual pictures. Here are some pictures she used on her power point.
Katie was awarded a scholarship from the Mount Baker Rotary. They had a lunch for the students and parents. The students each had an opportunity to talk about their future plans and thank the rotary members.
We had Katie's grad party on May 30. Her and her friend Lucy had a combined party. Thankfully, Lucy's mom graciously offered to have it at their house since I had a summer of parties already planned. It was a beautiful, sunny day and Lucy's backyard was so pretty all decorated.
The girls chose to have an ice cream with all the toppings, brownies (and other bars/cookies) and a lemonade bar.
We had a great turn out. So many people came to celebrate our girls!
And then, just like that, my baby graduated from high school.
It was a cool but beautiful night and surprisingly, I found myself more happy than sad...even when "Pomp and Circumstance" started playing. She is more than ready to move on to her next adventure and I'm slowly warming up to being an empty nester.
She spotted us up in the stands!
