Snow Day

You all know how I feel about snow.  That's all I have to say.  Here's some pictures of my kids having fun in it.  No, I did not go out and have fun with them.  I took these from the porch as quickly as I could and then ran back into the warmth of my house.
They thought these huge icicles that were hanging off the roof were the coolest things in the world.  I don't think they realized how easily they would break once they started playing swords with them.
I gave them the supplies to make snow cones.  Aren't I a good mom?

Notice my new deck.  My brother-in-law built it for me just a couple of weeks ago.
John had a snow day too so the kids convinced him to go outside and play with them.  Just so you know, that was a real sacrifice since he loves the snow about as much as I do.  I felt a little guilty about that so I decided to clean the fridge.
Isn't it beautiful?  I took the shelves out and everything!  I must have opened my fridge like twenty times today just to admire it's whiteness.
It's tradition to read the "Snow Day" book on a Snow Day.  Cuddling with this cutie under a blanket in front of the fireplace was my highlight of the day.
They've already cancelled school for tomorrow too (although John is planning to go back to work) so I guess we get to sleep in again....I guess snow days aren't all bad. :)

The Phantom of the Opera

Sorry folks.  I know some of you have been waiting forever for me to post these pictures.  I have been sick.  Like coughy, sneezy, nose running, eye-watering, head is going to explode sick.  When my mom was here I was bragging to her how healthy my family has been this winter.  That was dumb of me.  I got it the worst but Katie and Holly also got a touch of the beast too.
Anyhoo, without further ado...here is The Phantom of the Opera.  If you missed it, I feel sorry for you because it was incredible.  I have a couple of videos of Holly but we aren't allowed to post them on the internet due to copyright stuff so if you really want to see her, let me know and I will gladly e-mail them to you.

Three of my favorite ballerinas.

Holly and Cassie have been in four musicals together.  Cassie is a senior so this is her last one.  I might have cried a little while taking this picture.

I stole this one off of the school's website.  I figure I pay them a lot of money so it's okay.
This was one of my favorite scenes.  Holly was a freaky mannequin.

I stole this one off of the photographers website.  I figure that's okay because I purchased this picture.  Plus also (I've been reading too much Junie B.) it's a good one.

A couple of little girls wanted Holly's autograph.  So cute!
Holly and her "movie group".  These guys have been good friends for awhile now and Holly is so blessed to have them.  Trevor (in the middle) was the Phantom.  He had to shave his head while the rest of the guys were not allowed to cut their hair since the beginning of November.  I think they all got their hair cut the day after the show ended!

I took Sam backstage after the last performance so he could check out some of the props up close.

I just like her face in this one.  The ballet girls are getting reprimanded for a bad performance.
Holly's friend got these fun backstage pictures.

 All of the ballet girls.

Randomness

When my mom and dad came for Christmas they brought me a couple of treasures.  Mom had asked me if there was anything I would like from their house.  I'm not sure she was expecting me to actually take her up on that offer!  I got one of my Dad's gumball machines.  I put it in my entry way and I love it!
I also got my Mom's printers box.  There are a lot of little treasures that came with it...some barrettes that my mom used to wear, a casket knob they found at the cemetery they took care of, a tiny Burger King cup (I used to work there) and lots more.  I've added some of my own little treasures but there's still a lot more spots to fill.
My Mom and I went to a movie one afternoon.  We had popcorn and everything!  So much fun!
We saw "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty".  I LOVED it!  Five stars from this critic.  It was clean (how many non-animated PG movies are out there?) and I smiled the whole time I was watching it.  Mom liked it too.
I worked basketball concessions this past week and dumped the unsold popcorn on my front lawn.  The next morning we had LOTS of seagulls come for breakfast.  Katie was very entertained.
It's been so much fun having my Mom here for Holly's musical.  She leaves tomorrow.
:(
I think she'll miss us but I don't think she'll miss our weather!

Seahawks, Legos, Gramma, and Phantom

Friday was "Support Your Favorite Team" day at school.  Apparently there's a pretty important game going on this weekend.
The elementary school library is also having a Lego Creation Fair.  This is Katie's creation.  She named it "The Lovely Tree house".
And this is Sam's.  His is named, "Attack at the Space Needle".
And guess what else?  Gramma is here!   We all love this lady a whole bunch and she must love us too since she's giving up sunshine and 70 degree weather for a whole week!
One more thing...
You are not going to want to miss "The Phantom of the Opera" going on at Lynden Christian School right now.  It is amazing.  Get your tickets now and check out my beautiful ballerina!
