John turned 54 in October. Sam sent him this hilarious cup. Please excuse his Saturday-out-working-in-the-shop sweatshirt.
Out west wing remodel is 92 percent complete. Still waiting for blinds and my closet inserts but we are close enough for the "after" pictures.

More cross country meets.
Katie does not love to run but she does love to be part of a team and challenging herself. So proud of her!Holly moved into her new place the beginning of October. She asked me to come help her. And then my sister asked if she could come too! Such a fun weekend all together!
We spent time on the beach.
And at the Tillamook Cheese Factory.
Mostly we ate there. There cheese is pretty good but they make the best ice cream!
Yes, we all got flights of ice cream. No, we had no trouble finishing them.
Holly had a work meeting one morning, so I took Amy to the state hospital museum. I got been there before enjoyed it a lot and I knew Amy would too.
Afterwards we met up with Holly at Home Goods and made her spent a bunch of money on stuff for her new home.
Moving Day! For someone who was going from one furnished place to another, she sure has a lot of stuff. We filled up her car and my car and still had to go back to get the stuff in her refrigerator.
Aunt Amy packing up Holly's bedroom.
Saying goodbye to "her" chickens.
Good thing Amy LOVES doing stairs because Holly's new home has A LOT of them!
Holly heard about this "basement" apartment from the young adult's pastor at her church. It's his in-laws house. She almost didn't look at it the day we went apartment shopping but at the last minute decided she should check it out. True story....while we were driving around that day Holly was saying how much she was going to miss Andrew and Cheryl living in Salem. She commented that she didn't have anyone she could call if her car broke down or there was another emergency. We knocked on Dennis and Nancy's door and they immediately invited us into their house and were so kind. We eventually made it downstair to look at the place and it was just what Holly was looking for. At some point Nancy made the comment that they would look after Holly and she would always have someone to call in an emergency. I started crying.
Her Auntie Denise got her beautiful housewarming flowers.
And her new landlords left this goodie basket.
It's a two-bedroom, two-bath place so John and I can come whenever we want we are invited.
Her new backyard is like a little park. She spots lots of wildlife back there but her favorite is the feral cats!
We discovered Aunt Amy is an excellent pantry organizer.
Holly took us to this really fun bar for supper. It had lots of old=time arcade games.
Back at home...an eagle sighting from the bridge.
Still crushing it at Fantasy Football. This time I beat John which was especially satisfying.
Out for a date. We went to Edaleen for ice cream cones. We both ordered minis but mine was definitely bigger than his!
It wasn't exactly what I was planning. My Dad ended up in the hospital. He had COVID and blood clots in his lungs. Didn't get many projects done and spent a lot more time in a hospital room than planned but very thankful to be there to support my mom. He was released to "hospital at home" a couple days before I left and I'm happy to report he's doing much better.
Also not planned...my nephew Chase decided to join the navy. In a matter of days, he was being sworn in and off to bootcamp. He lives up in the Twin Cities so my sister wasn't able to be there but his dad sent her this picture. So proud of this guy!
My sister had taken a day off to spend with me but it worked out super well because we hung out and I distracted her (at least a little) from having to worry about Chase. We went out for supper and to a show in downtown Sioux Falls.
We saw "The Wonder Bread Years." It was a super cute comedy show about growing up in the seventies. It was funny and brought up a bunch of good memories.
She slept over at Mom and Dad's place and we went shopping and out to lunch the next day. She took me to this amazing Indian Taco place. Delicious - definitely have to take John next time we're back.
Okay, I know most of my readers don't really care but I really feel like it's important to document this. I beat my son in Fantasy Football.
My cousin Karen from Minnesota was in town visiting her brother. She called and asked if I wanted to meet for coffee.
And finally, our extremely talented neighbor Rob helped John make this barn door that divides our bedroom and bathroom. It's made from maple wood from our property. It turned out so pretty, I love it!
