Rapping up 2020

I can't say I'm a huge fan but I can appreciate a good rap.  My sister had this MC Hammer VHS tape with the "Can't Touch This" video on it and she must have watched it like a million times.  I'm pretty sure she had the parachute pants too.  She was way cooler than me.  Still is.

I'm getting off track.  Here is my rap to finish up 2020.

Put on a little MC Hammer for back ground music and enjoy.

I have a girl, her name is Holly.

She makes me happy, she makes me jolly.

She came in December to stay for a bit.

But she had to work Christmas so you couldn't stay for it.

We had a good time though we didn't do much.

That's cause of the virus and paranoia and such.

We ate a lot of goodies and we played a lot of games.

(How do John and Katie keep beating us at Code Names?!)

We opened up our presents and we had fondue.

Holly got a robe and Katie did too.

She visited some friends (pretty sure without a mask).

I don't really care so I didn't think to ask.

We shopped for Sam before a school dance.

Then showed up to meet the girl...think that might have stifled the romance.

Crafting, movies, pictures in the snow.

Cuddling with the cat and eating Jell-O.

Just being with each other, don't need no big event.

Made me really happy, made this mama's heart content.

Christmas morning got started worshipping our Gift from Above.
Then we spent the day with family who we really truly love.

A party with friends is how we spent our New Year's Eves.
Covid can't stop us. Peace out homies.

November in a Nutshell

Okay, here I go again.  Trying to catch up on this blog of mine.  We are a couple days into 2021 and so far, so good.  There's been a lot of negative press about 2020 and I get that but I do want to say that God is good, ALL THE TIME and that was true even in 2020.  Looking back over my year, I see so many evidences of God's faithfulness in me and my family's life.  Hope you can say the same.

Now, back to our November.  In no particular order.

A screenshot from my phone one day.  It could be from any day in November.  They were pretty much all drizzly.

John got all crazy on me one Saturday and started cleaning and organizing our garage.  He even rehung the kid's "You are so loved" posters that moms are forced asked to do for their 6th graders.

We spent a delightful Thanksgiving with family at Gary and Sally's house this year.  It was a smaller crowd which meant I could have more than one slice of pie.  No pictures but here are some Thanksgiving funnies.

Christmas decorating commenced.  My tree was up way before Thanksgiving.  This kind of annoys John.  I heard a lot of people put our their stuff early this year.  I actually put mine out early every year...and not just because it annoys John.  He refuses to hang Christmas lights on the outside of our house so my early decorating is what is called a marital compromise.

Ryan had a couple different Christmasy outfits.

John made me this super cool coat rack for my new laundry/mud room.

I made almond puff pastries.  Usually my mom is around sometime in the fall and we make these together.  I missed her help.  I miss her period. :(

Katie didn't really want to help since she doesn't like them but she did a lot of her own Christmas baking this year.

Our dilapidated horse barn in the woods is getting a makeover.  John and I are not totally in agreement what we want to use it for but we are in agreement that we don't want it falling over.  John and a couple friends got it jacked up and we plan to pour cement for a foundation, walls and a floor.

Katie and Brooklynn moved the trampoline in the shop once day and decided to sleep on it.  Crazy girls.  They insisted on the dog sleeping out there with them.  This was the first time Carly has slept anywhere but on her mat in the garage since we got her.  According to Katie, Carly loved the sleepover and hopes to do it again soon.

On November 15, our governor shut down dining in restaurants again.  A few put up tent outside for people to eat in.  This one in Everson even set it up all fancy.
This confuses me.  How is it safer to eat in a tent outside than in inside?  Whatever.

I saw this and thought of John who loves golfing, beer, and hybrids.

Tragedy struck the Hiemstra household when I was at Costco and realized they were no longer selling our favorite breakfast sausage.  John has literally eaten one of these every day for the past ten years.  He was not happy.

Anyone know where I can find these?
